G-Node Conference App

Conference abstracts, schedules, and other information hosted on https://abstracts.g-node.org/conferences can be downloaded on mobile devices (Android and iOS) for offline viewing. These web apps (called Progressive Web Apps) are locally stored versions of web sites, with all the required data necessary to browse the conference information without an internet connection.

If you would like to browse the G-Node conference website while offline, please follow the instructions below.

How to download the G-Node conferences site for offline viewing

To use this feature you will need:

  • For Android devices: Android 5.0 or higher running Chrome version 40 or newer or Firefox 58 or newer.
  • For iOS devices (iPhone & iPad): iOS 11.1 or newer (using the Safari browser).

To start, open the G-Node Abstracts website (https://abstracts.g-node.org) on your mobile browser.

Once the website has finished loading, you will see a banner at the bottom of the page with the text "Add G-Node Conferences to Home screen". If this banner does not appear when you first visit the site, try reloading the page.

Tap this banner and confirm the action on the popup dialog box.

Depending on Android and Chrome version, an icon may be placed on the device's home screen with the name "G-Node Conferences", or it can be found in the application drawer.

Once the website has finished loading, a button will appear in the toolbar shaped like a home button with a cross (+) in it.

Tap this button and confirm the action in the new dialog box that appears at the top of the page.

When the app is ready, you will be prompted to place the icon on your Home screen

Either press and hold the icon to place it manually on your home screen, or press "Add Automatically" to have it placed automatically.
